Assure America, an insurance company located in Weirton , recently was presented with a Mayor’s Award in honor of its efforts to beautify the community with its new office building.

President Matthew Magnone explained the business moved into the location at 3546 Pennsylvania Ave. in response to their continued growth.

“We outgrew our former facilities,” Magnone said.

Mayor William Miller visited the new building to present the award and to tour their offices.

The award states it is presented “in grateful recognition for your contribution to the City of Weirton by building such a beautiful building on Pennsylvania Avenue, and improving the aesthetics of this area.”

Miller said he was amazed by the design of the building, and believes it helps bring a new element into the community.

“It’s a magnificent building,” Miller said. “It’s a great addition to Weirton.”

Magnone explained the building was constructed and decorated in a federalist, Greek-revival style in an attempt to reflect the time period when his grandfather started the business.

“We tried to keep the décor to the 1920s period, when my grandfather dame to Weirton,” Magnone said.

On Thursday, Assure America will host a grand opening and open house with the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce in honor of the new building. The event will take place at the office between 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
